Windows Share Manager

Welcome to jankamp.com!

Windows Share Manager is an application I’ve originally created for the Xtreamer Media Player & Streamer. It allows you to “fix” your network shares so the rights and users are properly setup so your player can access them properly. It also has the functionality to create and remove your shares.

Project Status:
Released, new version in development.

Download Windows Share Manager v1.2 (stable):
Windows Share Manager

Xtreamer Website:
http://www.xtreamer.net/downloads/community-projects/windows-share-manager.aspx

v1.2 changelog:
Renamed program to: Windows Share Manager
Added refresh after dropping a folder to create a new share
Now checks if sharename already exists when creating a new share
If sharename already exists it will add a 2,3,4, and so on behind it.
Sharing Registry Fix function added to fix most xtreamer sharing issues (http://shop.xtreamer…7DServer+shares)
Added new program icon
Fixed taskbar icon

v2.0:
The next version of Windows Share Manager is in development with some neat new features.

We’ll might be adding support for mobile devices as well (android / windows phone).
iOS will be supported later as well.

    Hi
I am very pleased and satisfied with this program, however i run into a snag.

I got several internal and external harddisks defined for share usage in my LAN and they work perfectly
on all my devices PC, 2 laptops, mediaplayer.
However i recently bought an Ipad mini and on this Ipad all but one of the defined harddisks can be accessed, 1 external harddisk, Physically exact the same as others used can not be accessed.
I have it shared exactly the same as all others but it is no go. The Ipad gives an error message.
The disk format is NTFS as all others.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Kind regards. Joop Jasperse

I had been struggling for ages trying to get Windows 7 to share folders without Homegroup (I hate the Public folder system), I could see folders on the network but did not have permission to access them, frustratingly I had a folder that was sharing perfectly, but all new shares failed in all directions.
Your Windows Share Manager 1.2 fixed my network in a matter of seconds, brilliant program. As an added feature it would be wonderful to see what the program did to fix the problem in a log file etc. Was It user cockup or just a Microsoft overprotecting again.

Best thing after the invention of the wheel !

    Hartelijk dank
    Groet Paul.

    Hello,

Is it possible to use the latest version under Win 8.1 ?
Sharing with my “Dune d1” still fails, with Win-XP was no problem.

    Sincerely,
    als

      Hi,

I’ve seen more reports from Windows 8.1 users having sharing issues, I will look into it and see if I can add anything useful to fix these problems in the next version.

Hi, any news on the new version?

Using windows 8.1 with the old and good Xtreamer Sidewinder.

Can’t see the shares on “Network Shares”.

But I can see the shared folders and access it by going to: “Net >> Workgroup >> CumputerName >> SharedFolder” (which is a bit annoying doing that each time I want to watch something :-)

Any help would be great. Thanks.

No problems with Windows 7 Pro, about two months ago i installed fresh 8.1 Pro (same components in PC) and after that i have not been able to see shared hard drive with Xtreamer.. Once when i tried this program for fun and made shares and uninstalled them, i saw one time only shared folder, i got access to it and saw files, after reboot of computer it stopped working. Problem is in 8.1 version of Windows.. Thanks in advance to get sharing to work :)

Are you kidding me with this program??? Had some home networking sharing issues, I spent a good 3 hours messing with my network settings, googling solutions, disabling this, disabling that, messing with this messing with that. Happen to come across a link in a blog that brought me here. Downloaded the program and 2 clicks the problem was solved. Jan Kamp you’re a true life saver and a genius. Thank you!!!

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Please make sure you are running the program as Administrator, then let me know if you still get the error message.

Hi, I own a Dune BD Prime 3 media player and a couple of days ago I’ve installed Win 8.1 Pro on my pc. Used Ubuntu for years now and never had any problem to access files located on my pc’s hard disks. Now I’m trying everything and everything fails. Tried your program, no luck. I can access all my pc shares from another pc running Win 8.1 and also from my Android phone, but I’m unable to access the shares from my media player. Any news of a Win 8.1 fix? Thanks in advance!

met windows 7 en xtreamer sidewinder had ik het voor elkaar dat ik films kon streamen,
maar nu met windows 10 schijnt dit weer gewijzigd te zijn, is deze share manager ook voor windows 10?
